BRACE FOR IMPACT!

Finally got around to do a 10 years (plus) celebration of San Renard. I believe I first drew him back in 1997 (or 1996.... forgot to date my scribbles back then, in spite of my father advicing me to do so, now I know why =w=; ) I drew him to be part of Artail Production, today known as teamARTAIL who had a delightful little "Freedom Fighters" profile page, where people could draw and submit their own little Sonic The Hedgehog, fan/alter-ego characters, which was pretty much the result of San for me. X3
For those of you who don't know that story, that's also how I got to meet Valerie. ~
(and of course I had to add her Ally, SOMEHOW, which I figured I'd do by adding the non-anthro version as a keychain mascot, maww. X3 )

And haha, yeah, up top we see that certain San, who was drawn back when I was 13 of age. Yes, yes, we were all "mortal" once : P Lmao.
It's not to 'hiss' at the inquisitive youngsters, when I say, it's kind of annoying to frequently be asked "WOOOW HOW YOU DRAW LIKE THAT?! 8OOOO", I mean... c'mon. Drawing the same damn fox for over 10 years, I'd SHOOT myself if I hadn't shown somewhat improvemet. xD; Really just "give it time".

The bottom illustration was a challenge. The -idea- for it is actually more than a year old, I believe. But I had a hard time, raping every single aspect of the perspective I wanted, while still showing the character as he is, clearly. But at the same time, adding a bit of "LOOK WHAT I DO!" all over it. The legs... the legs have remained the same, since day one, I thought of the sketch for this. How to possition the hands and arms, that came later on and what he was to be holding... that was a matter of appeal, to me. I thought of having him hold and swining a big pencil around. For fun, having him swing a DILDO around! But HAHA no... Of course I then made it the giant Hello Kitty Deluxe (Advance) staff of doom.
The head. I thought about having his head lifted, showing the bottom of his chin, so he'd be looking "down" from the tiny bit of eyes, that we'd be able to see. However, that way, it wouldn't show the charcaters clearly, the way I'd want it to, so I kept the head plain 45-degree side turn as always.

Took me quite a while too... All the layer merging from preventing the file from reaching beyond what the computer would be able to handle was hard... I was baffled to be messing with a file that was 150MB in size, but nearing the end, no matter how many layers I'd merge, without killing off several of the layer effects, the file size snuck over 300MB in size. Imagine the poor scratchdisk having to hold history data on a 300megs psd. Lag-fest during zoom and saves! 8DDDD; Ever since my main harddisk died, I had to run Windows and my art applications on the same, so that's not quite as healthy, but it survived.
